Melbourne Renegades vs Perth scorchers live

Shaun Marsh is angry, and that spells bad news for the Melbourne Renegades. Marsh will line up for the Perth Scorchers in Wednesday night's BBL clash with the Renegades after being squeezed out of the Australian Test side.

The 32-year-old was dropped for the Boxing Day Test against the West Indies despite scoring a career-high 182 in the previous match. He also scored a match-winning 49 last month in the series-deciding Test against New Zealand in Adelaide.

The harsh selection decision means Marsh could only watch on as Joe Burns and Usman Khawaja posted Boxing Day centuries against the hapless West Indies.

Marsh will now get the chance to take out his frustrations on the Renegades after being released from 12th man Test duties. "Shaun is one of the best Twenty20 players in the world," Scorchers coach Justin Langer said.

"And when Shaun Marsh gets angry and hungry, then that's when I like having him in the team. "I reckon there'll be a bit of that after missing the last Test match, so he'll be welcomed back with open arms. "Hopefully he does want to prove a point that he should be in the Australian side, whether it's the Test side, one-day side, or Twenty20 side."

Both the Scorchers and Renegades have a 1-1 record, placing extra importance on Wednesday's match at Etihad Stadium. Perth will again back their strong bowling attack after putting the screws on the Heat last week. With Jason Behrendorff, David Willey, Andrew Tye and Brad Hogg all firing, the Scorchers restricted Brisbane to 7-117 on the way to a nine-wicket win.

Behrendorff snared 2-32 in his return from back soreness and he doesn't want the issue to pop up again. "Hopefully I'll be able to play every game, that's my goal," Behrendorff said.

"It was just a little bit of a flare-up in the same sort of area in my lower back [where I had a stress fracture last year]. "The scans showed just a little bit of inflammation, and we're just trying to monitor that and make sure it doesn't get any worse."

Big Bash League 2015-16-Hobart win despite Lynn's heroics

Lynn: "It is a little bit disappointing. Moving forward we have to concentrate on winning games. The average score is 180 at the Gabba, so I thought we did well to restrict them to that score. We picked him for a reason and he is showing his skills in this form of the game (referring to Samuel Badree). I would have liked to finish the job, but unfortunately couldn't do it tonight." Chris Lynn is the Man of the Match for his whirlwind knock of 101 which came off 51 balls.

The whole Brisbane innings revolved around one man, Chris Lynn. The hosts were off to a dreadful start as Peirson and Simmons went back cheaply. Lynn found an able ally in Heazlett, the pair added 79 runs for the third wicket. The Brisbane skipper kept going at one end and notched up his maiden BBL hundred, but once he got out, it became difficult for the hosts to keep up with the required rate. Boyce was the pick of the bowlers with 2/22 in his 4 overs. So, it is another lose for Brisbane and they are yet to register a win this season, while Hobart have beaten Heat twice in a week.

Australia seal series with thumping win

Mitchell Marsh wraps up the Test and Australia pick up a series win against West Indies with a 177-run win. It was a great Test for the Australians who dominated right from the word go. West Indies will take solace in the fact that this performance has been their better ones in the series albeit being on the losing side. They finally showed some fight!

Declaring overnight, and setting West Indies a target of 460 - after scoring 551 in the first innings - Steve Smith and Co. would have been extremely frustrated with the proceedings after the first session that saw just one wicket fall. The bowlers then came back strongly to bowl the opposition out in the remaining two sessions.

Chandrika and Bravo added 48 runs for the second wicket, but both being dismissed in quick succession didn't help West Indies' cause at all. Marlon Samuels's poor form in the series continued and Blackwood failed as well. Then came a partnership that gave the visitors some glimmer of hope. Ramdin and Holder counter-attacked in style and got to their fifties giving West Indies their first 100-run stand of the series.

But it all was quashed as Mitchell Marsh was brought back and got both Ramdin and Holder, putting an end to West Indies's hope. Play was extended by an extra half an hour to give Australia the chance of picking up the final wicket and wrapping up the Test and they did so in just two minutes of the extra time to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Carlos Brathwaite was a discovery for West Indies; his performance in the Test on debut will hold him in good stead for time to come. For Australia, Peter Siddle might have picked up an injury. Confirmation on the same should be in soon.

While there were as many as four centurions for Australia in the Test, Nathan Lyon was named Man of the Match for his seven wickets.

The next Test begins on January 3, 2016 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
