As we all know, Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Khan, who were married for 18 long years, have already begun their divorce proceedings. The latest news that has reached our ears is that Malaika has demanded minimum Rs. 10-15 crore from Arbaaz as divorce settlement. Spotboye quoted a source saying, “That’s quite an amount no doubt, but Rs. 10 crore minimum is what Malaika wants. And she will not settle for anything lesser.” The report further mentioned that Arbaaz has agreed to pay the amount over a period of time.
Their son Arhaan might continue to stay with Malaika after the divorce, which is likely to come about in May 2017. “But that would again depend on a lot of things, which includes how quickly Arbaaz and Malaika come to a common point as far as terms and conditions of financial settement are concerned,” adds the source.
The couple attended their first mandatory counselling session in December this year at the Bandra family court. Their court visit came as a shocker because although grapevine was abuzz with their split rumours, it was believed that the couple was working on their relationship. Both Malaika and Arbaaz were spotted together on several occasions, trying to iron out their differences. “But nothing worked. All those meetings went down only as table talk,” the source reveals. Arbaaz’s elder brother, Salman Khan, too tried to convince Malaika not to annul the marriage but apparently she was adamant on separation.
It was in March when the couple announced of their separation in a join statement. But at that time, there was no mention of divorce, instead it was stated that they were on a break “The truth is, we have taken a break, but that doesn’t mean people can presume, assume and speculate things of such malicious nature. We are taking out time to figure out our lives… Yes, it’s true that we are separated, but where our lives go and what transpires between us, it is for us to decide. Wherever it goes from here, we will talk about it when we are ready to.” But, alas things have changed now and the couple is heading for a divorce.
